About PrintReal
PrintReal is a set of three free browser tools for printing images the way you meant to print them: at a real, measured size.
The problem it solves
Say you have a sticker design that has to be exactly 4 cm wide, a photo that has to come out at 10 × 15 cm, or a sewing pattern that is only correct at 1:1. You open the file, hit print, and the printer quietly resizes it to fit the page. The result is close, but close is useless when the size is the whole point.
Almost every print dialog defaults to "Fit to page" or "Shrink oversized pages", and almost none of them tell you by how much they scaled. So you print, measure with a ruler, guess at a percentage, and print again. PrintReal exists to remove that loop: you type the size you want in centimetres, inches or millimetres, and you get a PDF where the image is already that size on the sheet.
The three tools
They share the same idea — physical size is the thing you control — applied to three different jobs.
- Real size: place one or more images on a sheet at exact physical dimensions, choose paper and margins, and export a print-ready PDF with no scaling.
- Poster: take one image and split it across several sheets, so an ordinary A4 or Letter printer can produce something poster-sized that you tape together.
- Upscale: increase an image's resolution with an AI model when the file you have is too small for the size you want to print it at.
Who makes it
One person. PrintReal is built and maintained by an independent developer, not a company — there is no team, no funding and no business model behind it. It is free because it costs very close to nothing to run: the site is static files, and every image operation happens on your own device rather than on a server that someone has to pay for.
That also means the roadmap is short and driven by what people actually report. If something is broken or missing, telling me is genuinely the fastest way for it to change.
Why nothing gets uploaded
Your images are processed entirely in your browser. This is not a policy decision that could quietly be reversed later — it is how the thing is built. There is no upload endpoint, no image storage and no account system, because none of the three tools ever needed to send a file anywhere. The PDF is generated in the page, and the AI upscaling model runs on your device.
The practical upside beyond privacy: there is no file size limit imposed by a server, no queue, and no reason the tools cannot keep working when you are offline.
